The Orange Krush – Windows Of My Eyes (1969, Michigan)

Roberta Flack – Hey Roberta, How Come You Know So Much About Wine? (1982)
Amusing song from this private-press promo LP for Manischewitz Cream White Concord Wine.

KaCee Michael – Power & Light (1986)
The Kansas City Casio genre is pretty hit or miss as a whole, and I’ve actually found the best stuff comes out of Illinois. Don’t bother trying to reach KaCee at either of those phone numbers, by the way… nowadays they’ll connect you to Wayne’s Lanes bowling alley and a man with a Mexican accent.

Gadi Elon – Smilin’ Eyes (1976)
Gadi Elon was an Israeli lounge singer who captivated audiences from the trenches of the Israeli wars to the nightclubs of New York and Las Vegas. Presumably he sold this privately pressed record at his shows. According to the liner notes the song “Smilin Eyes” was especially written for Gadi by Butch Poverno and George Bitzer, who are also credited with background vocals. A bit of googling revealed that George Bitzer was also the main keyboardist on Andy Gibb’s Shadow Dancing LP and wrote the theme song for the cartoon “Galaxy High”.

Timothy Marrow – Killer Moon (1985)

Edith Hill & Selah – The Corner
From the album Symposium, released on the private label The Peppered Snowfall in 1972. An accomplished singer, a jazz group, and a chorus of children with terrible pitch all join forces for an album of original songs about contemporary sociological issues. The results are at times disastrous, e.g. a doozy called “The White House Needs A Girl Like Me”, made only slightly more tolerable by imagining it’s an exhausted, desperate Hillary making a last ditch effort to plead her case.

Chuck Wright – At Seventeen
(Steppin’ Out With Chuck Wright, 1974)
Chuck was the staff organist and product specialist for the Conn Organ Company in Oklahoma City.

Pageant Theatre – The Hollow Men
An Australian theatre group turns T.S. Eliot’s poem into an epic psychedelic masterpiece. From the album Here We Go Round The Prickly Pear Alas For The Last Time, released in 1972.
